GA #2: July 8, 2008

The General Assembly was called in preparation for the upcoming SciQuiz and other activities of the organization in the upcoming months.

There were twenty-seven who attended and President Emerlyn San Juan presided the event.

Committee updates and other topics such as organization recognition and Tambayan rejuvenation were discussed.

Apps Faces LIFT

The MemCom conducted the LIFT (Leadership In Focus Training) for Apps 08-A . Basil James Santos led his very own style of Hep! Hep! Hooray!,the Pot! Pot! Bang!, at the start of the day to alleviate the mood of the apps. Among the challenging tasks were the Spider Web Challenge,this time done individually—he must make his way through a spiderweb-like set up and find himself a candle, the Obstacle Course, the Pyramid Making, and a puzzle. Indeed, through the activities, the members were able to reach the main objective of LIFT: to impart values of camaraderie and leadership to the applicants before they become true members of UP DOST Scholars’ Association.

Apps Undergo Committee Apprenticeships

As preparation for the applicants to get involved with the organization activities which they are ought to facilitate once they become full-fledged members, the membership committee let the applicants undergo committee apprenticeships.

Apps Acquaintance Party

GA #1: June 17, 2008

A total of thirty-four renewed members and probationary members attended the first general assembly of the UPDOSTSA held last June 17, 2008 at the UPDOSTSA Tambayan. The Executive Committee headed by the President Emerlyn San Juan presided over the GA.

UPDOSTSA Application Ongoing!

The University of the Philippines Department of Science and Technology Scholars’ Association (UPDOSTSA) is now inviting all interested DOST Scholars and is open for application.

There were application forms which were distributed on your SOEP
handbook. You can fill it up and visit our Tambayan. Pease prepare 1×1
and 2×2 pictures.

If you don’t have application forms or if you lost it, then visit our
Tambayan at Palma Hall AS Walk, the first room near the Coop store. :]

SOEP: A Success!

SOEP 2008 ends with a bang! After the thirty-day grueling training and seminar for the DOST scholars, its time for them to have a really good break and have fun!

The SOEPers colored the Engineering building green as they displayed their “Malakas ang Section Ko” shirts.

Of course, the SAers matched their shirts with “Malakas ang SA (Sex Appeal)” shirts.

The show started with Candy Suaybaguio and Thomas Soleno gracing the stage. They were the hosts of this year’s affair.

Bonding Days with SA

This year, the SAers tried to get nearer and closer to the new batch of DOST scholars. The primary objective of the “Bonding Days with SA” is for the new scholars to get acquainted to their brothers and sisters in the university.

All the sections were fetched from their respective classrooms and were brought to the UPDOSTSA tambayan. They were given free snacks and drinks during the event. The organization prepared some games to fill the gaps between the members and the new scholars.
